    As a graduate of Dave's FPU, my feeling is he has done his reputation a great disservice, and has lost a good measure of my respect, personally. His ideas and plans to get put of debt, and manage your money properly are excellent. And if his belief was, that if you're struggling with your finances, you shouldn't buy into a whole life, but rather buy a term for protection at a manageable premium, that would be fine. But that's where he should stop. Not every product is right for every consumer, but some products are perfect for a lot of people. When he lays blame on an entire industry because he had a bad experience with a Northwestern product/agent, he comes off as an arrogant, uninformed person. His personality is abrasive, when it doesn't need to be.

    When he says the insurance company steals the cash value, that goes against the formula I learned on my exam: Net Amount at risk + cash value-any outstanding loans = Net death benefit. That's not even including the nonsense he tells his audience about dividends.

    Personal finance is the broad net of the category, but in DR’s case it’s more appropriately branded “impersonal finance”. Even the calls that he takes from individuals, I don’t find have the due care that should be afforded an individual - there’s just not enough time given DR’s format, so I’m not devoid of respect for what is accomplished by DR for a mass market, generic advice for the mean or average caller. An individual should be able to assess that they are not receiving personalized financial advice over the span of a 10 minute phone in; but not all such individuals will realize this. 15:40 I don’t think DR would invest time to understand WLI because it’s not a product that is most suitable for the vast majority of his readership/viewership.

    00:00 People use whole life insurance as their own bank to gain more control over their finances and avoid paying excessive interest on traditional loans. 03:13 People use whole life insurance as their own bank by funding the policy to build cash value, avoiding traditional banks and using the cash for things like paying off a mortgage or saving money. 06:52 Whole life insurance allows you to borrow money at a higher interest rate while still earning the original growth rate on the full amount, providing compounding cash value and greater control over funds compared to traditional banking. 11:05 People use whole life insurance as their own bank by funding a policy, taking out a loan, and maximizing the cash value to use the money while still earning interest. 14:37 Whole life insurance can be used as a bank by setting up the policy with minimum insurance premium and maximizing cash value, allowing for loans to be taken out against the policy, which can be repaid to restore and grow the cash value over time. 18:25 Compare the growth of your money with the loan interest paid to the insurance company to see if you're in the black or red, and over time, the total growth should exceed the total interest paid. 20:28 People use whole life insurance as their own bank by funding the policy, building cash value, and earning 4-5% over time, while also accounting for loan interest and maximizing cash value with additional funds. 23:39 Using whole life insurance as a financing tool allows for maximizing cash value, compounding, and gaining control while avoiding dealing with banks and institutions.

Below is a video that provides a direct comparison -- ua-cam.com/video/tJ1ozeVCdNQ/v-deo.html - Guardian policies start out with Direct Recognition but offer the option to change to Non-Direct Recognition in the 10th policy year. - MassMutual still offers their High Early Cash Value Life Insurance Product. • @IBCGlobalInc
      @IBCGlobalInc 15 днів тому

      Thanks for the comment. You are correct that the "bad" way of designing policies is more profitable for the Insurance Company. With that said, the "design" of an individual policy is in agent's control. If an Agent knows HOW to design a policy for high cash value and is WILLING to do this, the consumer will have more cash value. Thanks again for the comment. We feel it is a big problem in the industry.

    This cash value in Life insurance is a scam. Let's imagine it this way. You deposit $20,000 into my savings account every year. Don't worry, it will be safe. There is no stealing here. After 5 years, I'll call you and say, "Hey, your cash value has accumulated to $100,000. You can now borrow against it. But I will charge you 8% interest. BTW, I will also need to charge 1% maintenance fees." Do you now realize how stupid that sounds? Wow, I am making $9,000 (9%) per year from your own money. All I did was have this savings account. It would depend if you current Annuity has surrender fees/charges. - If your current Annuity has surrender fees, these will be retained by the Insurance Company if you transfer it to a new product. - We can always review transferring an Annuity and compare the fess with the guarantees.

    Becoming a millionaire through a Roth IRA or a 401(k) involves different strategies for maximizing profits. A Roth IRA offers tax-free withdrawals in retirement, which can be advantageous if you expect to be in a higher tax bracket later in life. On the other hand, a 401(k) provides tax-deferred growth and potential employer contributions, boosting your savings. The optimal choice depends on factors like your current and future tax situation, employer match, and investment options. Consulting a financial advisor can help tailor a strategy that aligns with your financial goals and circumstances.

    31:20 a great Q to ask the advisor/planner/agent is what commissions correspond to the various options being presented, e.g. @Steve Parisi just disclosed in this episode that the commissions are higher for a FIA (indexed annuity) than for a SPIA (income annuity)

  • @bradboyd395
    @bradboyd395 25 днів тому

    nice illustration... but I'm continually amazed that insurance folks dont describe the main rationale to do this: tax benefit. By taking the policy loan the related interest expense reduces the tax impact of your higher-returning business or investment. if fact I would argue this is the ONLY reason to do this as an investor/business owner. The other oft-quoted reasons for 'infinite banking' (tax efficient compounding, liquidity, independence from banks) can all be achieved in less costly/complicated ways.

    I don’t think this gentlemen needs a FIA to flesh out the balance of the $200k+ in income he wants in 4 yrs (age 70). Keep it simple and propose to get the $850k money market into a fixed rate deferred annuity (or spread among several such deferred annuities). Definitely does not need to be making any income rider selections at this juncture. 4-yr MYGA rates in CT are doing 5.0-5.5% recently. His $850k grows to north of $1M by age 70. If he wants to lock in level (or inflation growing) payments at that point, a SPIA single life w/ cash refund could get a 70yo male in CT the annual $45k for a premium of $500k to $550k, leaving about half of the $1M available for safe/guaranteed growth in a MYGA ladder to fund future purchases of SPIA to plus up the $200k for inflation (like the rental properties and SSA income would likely do as well).

    • @dmoon9037
      @dmoon9037 27 днів тому

      The guarantees for the MYGA-SPIA angle will be better than the FIA angle because the commissions on those products are generally lower than that for the FIA. I realize that’s counter to your business, @Steve Parisi, but if your client wants guaranteed income with no stress, the more cost effective guarantees are in his best interest relative to the higher commission FIA. You also mentioned that he has other assets (those other properties he may be selling, etc.) so presumably he’d be using those to fund discretionary retirement income above his $200k base/essentials (with inflation growth) as he wishes.

      Another contingency to consider for your client: instead of annuitizating half of the guaranteed MYGA balance at age 70, just keep it all in a MYGA ladder, but make that evaluation 4 yrs from now and see what rates carriers are offering for MYGAs. Pull off the $45k, and 1035 exchange the balance of the $1M into a 3yr MYGA that allows surrender-charge free withdrawal of interest. If the rates were to be anything close to where they are today, that interest alone would more than cover the $45k (w/ inflation adjustments) annual withdrawal to flesh out the $200k essential/base. Although there is interest rate risk, this option keeps the principal largely powder dry for beneficiaries and does not preclude a potential annuitization down the line (SPIA).

      Thanks for the comment and additional details! Really appreciate it :) He did not want to move the full 850k out of his money market.

      @@IBCGlobalInc rgr that, @IBCGlobalInc, the guaranteed approach still plays with those client parameters: $500k in a 5.2% 4y MYGA and $350k retained in MM fund/account (assumptions 5% yield 1st year, 3.5% yield 2nd-4th years; 10bp expense ratio, no commission) still yields north of $1M at age 70, guaranteed, at which point MYGA and/or SPIA combinations can be analyzed - a FIA doesn’t give those same guarantees

    But the math doesn't take into account the opportunity cost of the $50000 unused in cash value. However, I see the interest deduction could be a good thing if he has a high marginal tax rate. say he takes out 100K at 5% and generates 4% in cash value, plus 6% in real estate. so it is 6+4-5 =5%. But he can deduct the 5% so assuming he is not spending the 6%, he can deduct some tax in his income. Do I understand it correctly?

    I assume this wouldn't be helpful for someone retiring in the next 5 years or so correct?

      Great question. This would apply to someone retiring soon. This case study used someone who plans on fully retiring in ~ 5 years.

    Why would you use tenpay in the 35 45 55 example rather than writing each as a 100-year ? The underwriting risk is too high in a 10 pay should you get uninsurable

    Invest in the financial markets before retiring by diversifying across assets, allocating a small portion of your portfolio, staying updated on market trends, and considering long-term holding to balance risk and growth.

      People dont understand that the prices of things are never going back down. This inflation is deeper than we think. Those buying groceries are well aware that the real inflation is much over 10%. The increments dont match our income, yet certain investors still earn over $365,000 in stocks and assets. Wish I could accomplish that.

      Very possible! especially at this moment. Profits can be made in many different ways, but such intricate transactions should only be handled by seasoned market professionals.

      Some persons think inves'tin is all about buying stocks; I think going into the stock market without a good experience is a big risk, that's why I'm lucky to have seen someone like mr Brian C Nelson.
